Lies

A while back, I heard 2 songs on the radio that spoke to me. One, by Lauren Daigle says,

"Though times it seems
Like I'm coming undone
This walk can often feel lonely
No matter what until this race is won
I will stand my ground where hope can be found
I will stand my ground where hope can be found

Oh, Lord Oh, Lord I know You hear my cry
Your love is lifting me above all the lies
No matter what I face this I know in time
You'll take all that is wrong and make it right
You'll take all that is wrong and make it right."

The other song that I heard right after this, was "Higher" by For All Seasons. Here are the opening lyrics:

"You are maker of all, You are made by none
Even when the tide's rising, I'm deep in Your love
You remain in control, with a steady hand
Even when the lies of this life start to make sense...

Your ways are higher, Your ways are higher
Than all of my ways, far beyond what I can see
You're higher, Your ways are higher
For now and always, far beyond what I can see
You're higher."

I've come to realize that one of the key areas the enemy tries to attack us is in believing the truth - the truth of who God is and the truth of who we are. Not who the world says you are. Not who your family says you are, but who God says you are.

As I work through the leftovers of traumatic events that happened in my past, the challenge always comes down to a matter of:  a) facing the reality of what really happened, b) identifying the lies that I believed at that time, c) replacing those lies with the truth, d) grieving the losses and e) finding healing.

I'm reading an amazing book called "The Air That I Breathe - Worship as a Way of Life". In it, the author points out that we all worship something because that's how God made us. And God made us to worship Him because He is the only one who is that worthy. And what God really wants to give us is Himself, which is what happens when we worship Him. When we truly know and experience who God is, we are consumed with Him and our hearts are overflowed.

When we truly worship God, we begin to get a sense of His awe and wonder and amazing goodness. Wrong perceptions of Him and of ourselves melt away in the truth of His presence.

Blessings.
