It's simple ~ the hope of spring
Greetings,
As I watch the drops of melting snow carve shapes in the ice on my garden border, I'm reminded of the hope that comes anew in spring. The winter seasons of trial and sickness can seem to last forever. Will this season ever end? When will we be well again?
Such can be winter in Michigan. And such can be our lives. Often when times of extended trials come, we can grow tired and weary. We long for the sunshine of spring and the hope of better health. Yet in all these things, we are not left in them alone. The one who made the sun and the rain and causes the tender shoots to spring up holds our lives tenderly in His hands.
It's simple really, when we come back to our center - what is the hope of our lives? We have a living God and Savior who is Lord of creation and Lord of our lives. And He cares about the smallest detail of our lives.
(He even knows the number of hairs on our heads.)
In this season of winter and sickness and waiting for spring, He gives us the answer we need. It's remembering the hope we have in Him; the promise of spring and of new life all around us. It's knowing that He holds the power to renew the earth and our hearts while we wait.
And as the bridegroom in the Song of Solomon says, "See! the winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come... The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance." Song of Solomon 2:11-12.
And He beckons to us, "Arise, come my darling; my beautiful one, come with me." (SS 2:13). What a better place to be than safe in His arms as we wait.
Blessings.
