Greetings
Greetings - have you ever given much thought to them? What a gift they can be. Thursday afternoon I was greeted by a fellow class mate as she was driving out of our school's parking lot. We exchanged greetings and made a few comments that got us both laughing. I walked away thinking what a gift it had been. It made my day.
Sure, simple you might say, but I am convinced that the true beauty in life is found in the simplest of things.
Days went by this fall when I would come to school, park my car, and watch for the morning flyover of Canadian geese. One morning this week the sun was enveloped in mist against the backdrop of newly fallen snow; it made a picture my mind can enjoy for days to come. This morning I could see a red-headed woodpecker making a new home in our old tree. It was quiet, and I could hear his unusual whirring-like chirp echoing through the crisp morning air.
God has created us to enjoy beauty. What do you find beautiful? I find beauty in the kind faces of the staff at the doctor's office who are helping my children grow up healthy. I see beauty in the thick green leaves of my daffodil plants as they patiently wait for the snow to melt. I hear beauty in the sounds of a woodpecker making a new home in our tree as he's preparing for spring.
And I enjoy the beauty in a simple exchange of greetings and laughter between friends.
Blessings.
It's hard to believe that spring is coming, but God is faithful so it will come. See you Sunday.
