Take the Time

Greetings,

I was visiting a Christian school the other day.  As we walked past a room or two that were dark, the staff person told me "This (or that) teacher doesn't work on Fridays." Wow. What a nice reprieve to have a job where you have a day off during the week. How much more could we find a little time to ourselves (for those of us who are too busy) if we had a day off.

I have been going to school pretty much full-time since the middle of September. I go to school four days a week, and was also working a fifth day to bring in extra income. After a few weeks I realized that it was too much, and I decided to let my job go. It wasn't an easy decision because I really enjoyed my job and the people I worked with. But I sensed this would be best, and the Lord has used this time for me to rest and reconnect with Him. I also find that I can listen to my own heart better when I have some "down time". Then I can re-focus and spend time on what truly matters. (Some days I just catch up on rest!)

It's important for each of us to have some "down time". Time to rest, time to reconnect with our own hearts, and time to spend with the Lord. I think one author of a Christian book called it "margin". But whatever you decide to call it, make sure to take the time to rest and reconnect.  Like the saying about milk: "it does a body good."

Blessings.
