Connected
Greetings!
It's good to be back.
Did you know that we are created for connection? We are designed to be in relationship with others. God created us that way from the beginning. In the first chapter of Genesis, after God made man, He said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper for him." Isn't that neat? God designed people to be connected with others and then provided them with the "others" too.
Do you feel connected? Who do you feel connected with? It's important to have at least one person you can be in touch with regularly. Go out for coffee, talk on the phone, visit with them. If you don't have someone you feel that close to, I would encourage you to pray and ask the Lord to send you someone. And then start becoming connected.
One idea is to begin using your gifts with others. Maybe you are a good organizer. Does someone you know need help getting their kitchen organized? Offer to help them. If you're a good cook, share a few new recipies with a friend who is getting bored with her regular fare. Are you a good listener? Invite someone over just to talk (you know that we women can always find something to talk about! :) My husband is always amazed how I can start converstations with women I don't even know.
I found a great source of connection within my church. I attended there before I got married, and got involved with other young people then. I helped with different ministries. I met my husband there. He and I now belong to a small group with some other couples who meet every other week for Bible study, prayer, and connection. I find that women tend to recognize their need for connection more readily than men do, but men need it too. So the women in our group get together every few months for coffee and dessert. The men have started doing it, too. (Okay, maybe they go out for wings instead.) But the point is, we make time to be involved and have made the commitment to be connected. And we continue to be blessed abundantly because of it.
Connection with others is such an important need we have - don't neglect it! Make time for people. Invest in spending quality time with others. And take time to connect with God - He's always there, eager for you to come.
Check out this great song - it's one of my daughter's favorite.
